ACT - Enhancing ACT skills
Values work is central to ACT, but it's often tricky to do well in the room. Clients say "I don't know what matters to me." They offer values that feel more like compliance than conviction. Or their values conflict, or seem to work against their relationships. In this hour-long session (with time for questions after), Dr Joe Oliver will cover practical ways to handle these common sticking points, including: - What to do when a client can't name their values - How to shift vague values ("being loving") into something workable ("being a supportive parent, even when it's hard") - Spotting when a value reflects compliance rather than genuine connection - Helping clients hold conflicting values without getting stuck Aimed at practitioners with some grounding in ACT who want more confidence and flexibility when values work gets complicated.
